I got my lovely piggie yesterday from our local rescue..
I'm on the look out now for a baby male to bond with him, he's outside in a hutch/run and just loves to spend his time in the run.
So far I've not handled him much, I am talking to him a lot though what do you thing I should to do next to get him used to me ? Should I start picking him up tomorrow or is it best to leave him settle in ?

best for him to settle in the second day i had elvis he was used to me. it varies on different pigs if there social or skittish

You could pick him up tomorrow Karen. Depends really on how he is. If he still seems really nervous you could just put your hand in the run, with a piece of carrot or something for example & see if he will come take it from you, or just put your hand in & see if he will come sniff you. Maybe he won't just yet as it's still early days. As he is an adult piggie I'm thinking he may not be as nervous as a baby so you may be fine to pick him up. Play it by ear & see how he seems. ;)

i think id probably pick him up tbh, he needs love and you wanna love him, what harm is a little cuddle and some nice juicy veggies as a treat?

maybe if you start doing it at a certain time each day he will start coming to you realising what he will be getting..i feed everybody before i go to bed generally at 10, but if I'm late, you should hear its like they have never been fed and i get the 'where exactly have you been!' wheek lol

Got a baby male for our new rescue bun that I got on Thursday :smitten: :smitten:.
I went to a piggie rescuetoday and got 5-6 week old Zac, they are so cute together and seem so happy together :)
I'm love hearing them chatter together its fantstic :smitten:
Can't see ourelves stopping at 2 piggies I should imagine that we'll be having more shortly ...

Haha Karen, you sound like me, it's hard stopping isn't it? I want more but need another hutch or shed! I'm really a boar girl they have such big personalities!

I would do as suggested just offer a carrot or something and if your pig takes it then he is beginning to trust you. I left Cuzzy in the hutch for a few days as he was very nervous. He is getting there and is more trusting. Keep talking to them and the trust will grow.

Good luck and don't forget to post some pics when you can! :D
