I have a new rescue piggie... He is a 6month old peru. I have had him for 4 days and he is quiet thin... I mean compared to my abby male who is 2 and more of a guinea lion that an guinea pig...

The little fella just seems to eat and eat, he clears all his pellets and lots of veg... Today he finished his dinner so quickly that I gave him more veg and he has cleared that too... not fond of yellow peppers mind...

As I am not used to this piggy I dont know weather he is in need of building up or just greedy...

He still has some pellets but not lots and no veg... lots of hay, a carrot in its holder to nibble on, ready grass and a treat stick... But he does love his Kale...

It is likely he has not been fed properly but if he is not used to vegetables then too much could give him an upset stomach so I would be careful there. The most important part of a guinea pigs diet is hay so as long as he is eating hay he will be fine.

I'm a tad hesitant to google peru guinea pig because.... yeah... =/

So is this is a smooth fured breed? If so there could a chance he's just smaller because he's a flat haired breed and Aby's as we know are big fluffy balls. My smooth haired guinea pig weighs the most but he actually looks the smallest because my other three guinea pigs are all quite fluffy breeds.

image2.webp This is the little fella just arriving home 4 days ago, the cage behind him was his temp accomodation until today when he moved in to his nice new c&c cage that he share with his new friend Herbie the guinea Lion (hopefully its split at the moment)

He is, and hes like lightening lol, but he is so small, and I get he is only 6 months old and I am comparing him to herbert who is at least 2 years older but he litterally has cleared out his pellets and had 3 of his little bowl fulls, one with Kale, basil, cucumber and pepper, and two with just Kale...

I should also say he has just moved next door to herbie and there has been lots of activity this evening for them, but he always clears his bowls, and I'm pretty generous... all he leaves are stalks... and some yellow pepper... not red he likes red...lol

I don't think a lot of kale and redigrass is good for them.Too much calcium I think and carrot shouldn't be available every day cos too much sugar and I think it isn't good for their kidneys either. He is beautiful though
