Hi after much deliberation we got a second guinea pig today after George passed away. I was considering getting Peppa (another male) neutered and getting a couple females so not to be in a lone guinea pig situation again. However, Peppa although being out and cuddled more started running round squeaking loudly and checking all round crate in all the beds. We all felt it was too long a wait process being neutered as he was feeling lonely already.
So we have a new wee boy, we got a youngster as the rescue centres didn't have any single boars except dominant ones!
Anyway, he is in a separate crate at moment near Peppa and I have also put up a separation in the big crate. Just looking for advice for bonding 2 males. Now I'm thinking keeping him separate crate to get used to house first and then put him into big crate in the separated section and introducing them slowly from here in neutral ground. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated

Bonding: Illustrated Dominance Behaviours And Dynamics

the above thread is our definitive guide written by our behaviour expert and honed over years. Take time to give it a good read through. Congrats on your new addition, I have just commented on your introduction thread as have been off forum for the weekend... Welcome :)

Ok so I was told to bond in a neutral area then put them in two parts of my cage, a separate area, and do this for a few days. This seems to say that ive to bond and all going well just put them into the big cage together no seperation? Is this right or I'm i misunderstanding. It's a c&c with a 2×4 downstairs and a 2×2 upstairs so plenty space and will put in lots of double ended hidy holes... or am I best to just have one level huge for now? I liked the double level before cause one boy could be downstairs and one upstairs if they wanted.
Should I have him in the big crate with the separation just now while he settles so that they can see each other or am I best with what I have at moment a totally separate cage?
Thanks
