New piggie and she hardly moves LOL

I have a new piggie :))and she's so sweet!xx>>> I got her only a few hours ago from our local pet shop, they were selling loads down there, when i went this morning to get some stuff and when i went to look at them, i fell in love and soon wanted one.
I kept telling my mum please could i have one and then i told my dad. He's not that pleased because he doesn't really want any more animals, because we already have two hamsters (one is my sisters) and another guinea pig, Cookie. So we went down there and i choose a tiny white and black rousette, (forgot what breed they are) one:)) :))
She's in her cage at the moment and she was very nervous, didn't move and is not really eating or drinking but i have got her out a few times so that she can get used to me and she has started to move a little now whilst on me and moves her mouth and eats some of her hay.
I have decided to call her Maisey as i think she looks like one.
I will get some photos up but it's early days yet and might get frightened of the camera.
I'm hoping tomorrow she will move around abit more and will be abit more confident with the surroundings.

aww i'm sure she will enjoy living with you and will hopefully settle in...i'm sure you will spoil her to bits. lol x

Yeah, i looked at her this morning, she's still very still though. I dunno how they can stay so still sometimes! lol I think she's still alot nervous. I've given her some lettuce but i think she's too nervous to eat it.
The lady said in the pet shop you can either have one but they are best in pairs which i do know and i think she had a sister. Which is at the petshop. I've taken her awau from her sister. :{ so do you think that's why she's like hardly moving and eating?
I couldn't say yes to a pair because my dad already didn't really want this one and as i already have one too.
I've not really had one like this before, when i used to first have the others, they did used to take food and moveLOL
But it's only been like an evening and a night, so that's too soon for her to have really settled in, right? after the weekend she should've settled in, yeah? and if she doesn't want should i do? The lady in the pet shop said if there are any problems too bring her in. But she's not got a health problems, she's just shy.

she may be a little sad from being parted from her sister, after all she doesnt know any different and being on her own may be a little daunting for her.

She *** come around, it is still early days, shes just got to get used to her new environment. Just make sure you talk to her gently when you get her out the cage an give her lots of doting and cuddles!

cant wait to see the piccies xx

Yep, she sure has had alot of cuddles, i can't get enough of her, she's so gorgeous! :))xx>>> I handfeed her some of my plum that i was eating and she liked it :) so she is eating slowly

And i've taken some photos and will get them up tonight.

aw, yes they are usually very nervous when coming into a new environment. When she's older maybe you could bond her with Cookie? (if cookie's also a girl?)

She's ok now. I gave her some califlower which she likes. And she was squeaking a tiny bit on my mum but i dunno whether that means she's happy and when i had her on me, she's moving round more now and she trying to go over my shoulder and at the back of me LOL
Yeah Cookie is a girl too. I have been getting them to see each other but not in the same cage, so that Maisey knows that she's not the only guinea pig around here. And i have to be careful because Cookie gets abit excited and have to be careful she doesn't bite her. I think Cookie may bully her if they were together one day. Cookie is a very domanearing (sp?)piggie.

I really think that once you've made sure that wee maisey isn't ill, or carrying any illness that could be passed on, you should have a bash at introducing the two! Piggies are much happier in pairs, plus it'll please you're dad cos there will be one cage instead of two. ;)

There's loads of hints and tips else where on the forum about introducing piggies. I bet Cookie is just desperate to make friends with wee Maisey! Plus, Maisey having Cookie to follow about will give her oodles of confidence.

But, congrats on the new wee girlie! They're so hard to resist, I was sorely tempted when I went into pets at home today. They had the most adorable babies in. :)

Yeah i guess thsts good, having one cage than two. I'll have to see when Maisey gets abit older. :)
Thanks, i'll try to find the hints and tips on how to introduce piggies.

I agree with the above posts. Sows are allegedly easier to bond than boars and guineas definately thrive when they have a cage mate. I'm not saying rush in now but I've always found it easier to bond a young pig with a maturer one since the littlun seems content to follow the older one which suits if the older is dominant by nature

Yeah but what about Cookie rushing to her and hitting her? she was near her and she sorta hit her with her nose and i had to pull her away. If she's going to bully Maisey, it's not going to give her confidence, is it? and i don't wanna find her dead in Cookie's cage because she's bite her so bad. :{

cool, i'll read it:))

I gave Maisey some grass just now and she seems to like it and this morning, she was in my bed with me :p and i found out she likes to crawl under stuff like my duvet heehee. Cookie doesn't like that, i think she feels suffocated if she's under something like a duvet. :))
