hi all ive had my 2 new baby piggies potch and chino for almost 2 months now they are 6 months old. They have done the usual domiance behaviour and potch seems to be the domiant piggy but the last week they have started fighting alot to the point ive had to grab my oven gloves and seperate them potch seems to spend most days now chattering his teeth at chino and chattering his teeth if i try to stroke him (although he has never gone to bite) as i stop stroking him when he starts teeth chattering is this all normal behaviour and is there any idea how long this will last? do you think i will end up having to seperate them? chinno seems to get on ok with my older 2 piggies dave and derek as he just goes and lays next to derek (he made a break for freedom while i was cleaning them out and ran over to derek who was chilling on his blanket by my sofa but derek wasnt bothered he just layed there with chino lol) I'm just worried about them fighting all the time any advice will be great as dave and derek have always got on x

@amber horner How many pigs live together. It sounds like you have 4 boars living together? That very rarely works.

If you have fighting pigs you need to let them get on with it, and if it comes to blows and there is blood drawn then it's time to separate.

Hi @amber horner this thread might be useful as it deals with the same thing. Where Do I Start
There's a lot of advice from lots of forum members about the 'four boars' situation. It's not the end of the world, but it is likely you are goin to have to separate some or all of them. Hopefully you can get them into two bonded pairs.
The post also deals with ringworm, which is obviously not your issue.

i have 4 boars but they dont live together dave and derek live together and potch and chino live togther i know not to have them all togther just worried about potch and chino fighting

I think then it's just a case of keeping an eye on them and doing all the things in the advice threads, like plenty of space, at least two of everything, and hoping for the best. I hope they work it out, but if they don't, at least you know it's just that they don't like each other rather than anything you've done. I hope they do work through their differences.

thank you they have their own beds own food plate and water bottle they have full run of my downstairs when i let them out ( not when dave and derek are out they come out seperate) just hope they can settle down together

They have a 5x2 c&c cage but have plenty of floor time

they have had a full blown fight today with lumps of hair being bitten out of one of them chino came off worse as hes now limping so taking him to the vet to make sure he is ok I'm going to have to seperate them as i wont be able to sleep knowing they arent being supervised downstairs would i ever be able to bond chino with dave and derek. chino is 6 months old and dave and derek are almost 2 yrs old if it comes to it i dont mind having a pair and 2 singles i just want them all to be happy thats my main concern

Threesomes hardly ever work, and you could end up spoiling the bond Dave and Derek already have and end up with four singles, so I wouldn't risk it. I always feel hypocritical saying that because I have 3 boars together, but I really don't expect it to last much longer, and have grids on standby for the day when it comes.

thats ok I'm now setting up my spare cage for either potch or chino until i can get another c&c cage for that piggy I'm gutted to be honest but ill always do whats best for them all
