hiya :) iv probably mentioned before how I wanted two more guinea pigs to go with my original two, well up until now it had been a pipe dream.
that is until my o/h's family mentioned an unwanted pregnancy, so in I jumped both hands waving!

I picked up on Tuesday two gorgeous little sows :)
I'm a bit worried as there only 6 weeks and I'm not entirely sure they should have left there mom yet but the lady wanted them gone :(
she assured me there mom wasn't producing milk anymore but I'm not overly sure. I felt really sorry for them. I knew they would have a lot more love and care at mine, so off I trotted.

there eating solid food and they seem content enough, there coming out of there shell already :)
I'm just keeping a beady eye on them, giving them lots of love and attention

other than that they are absolutely stunning!
I will keep you all updated and post some pics asap :)

You must be very chuffed about your babies!

6 weeks (average weight should be around 400g with a good diet) is the age that rescue born babies can be rehomed from. At that age and weight they have been fully weaned and should have adapted to an adult diet. They also should have enough body mass to cope with the change of home and loss of family.

If you wish confirmation of the sex, please post pictures of the relevant parts in our pregnancy section. For best results, angle the bottoms towards a good source of light and if possible, use the close up function. If you can get somebody else to hold the piggies or take the pics for you, that will make things a lot easier!
Otherwise, this a good sexing website for piggies of all ages: http://www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm

thanks for the advice iv been reading a bit online and am getting increasingly worried!

when I went to pick up the girls they were in a cage altogether! mom, dad, brothers etc.
I checked the sex of the girls myself and am quit confident that they are in fact girls but what I didn't realise is how young a sow can get pregnant.
well until I have done a bit of research anyway. I stumbled upon a website and yours has just confirmed it!

I'm hoping to god there not pregnant!
what the hell do I do if they are :( :(

Gorgeous! Your black and ginger one looks a lot like my squeak!

6 weeks is fine for them to leave as long as they are eating well and have gained a good weight. Look like lovely little abbys too :) Regards pregnancy it can happen but it is rare, just keep an eye on them :)

Iv just weighed them and going off what wiebke said they are seriously under weight!
They are either not the age she said or they haven't been fed!

They are 200 grams each

Any ideas what's best to do next?
What's best to feed them?

They aren't overly heavy but my last boys were only 300g each when I had them, they was 6 weeks old and males are heavier then females so I wouldn't worry too much. I would feed them as usual, maybe add a few oats as an extra to the top of their food as its a good way to put a little weight on, also baby corns are good too, mine love them. Mine gained weight nicely once they settled in and are growing day by day. Just keep an eye on their weight :)

It really panicked me when I saw how much they weighed :( I never had this problem with Charlie and Lola

Thank you for the help though Its greatly appreciated
Il keep you all up to date hopefully all will go well :)

Thank you!
I'm trying to wein them off the pants food she was feeding them.
I give mine excel so eventually they will be on the same as mine :)
