New Piggies

Hi all,
I bought my first ever piggies last weekend - 2 males, and wanted to introduce myself and them.
Not sure whats going on in the cage at the moment, I think they are battling as to who is going to be in charge! Albert seems very nervous however is the only one who allows me anywhere near him... Einstein, I think, is going to be the dominant one, however runs away every time I go near the cage!
They were brought from a pet shop and I was advised they havent had much handling, so I'm leaving them to it for a bit.
Both are eating well, and theres been a fair bit of noise and jumping around - apparently they are only about 12 weeks old so I'm hoping they'll let me play with them in their own time!
Any advise will be most welcome!:{

Firstly, I love their names! I'm not really experienced yet with piggies but I would imagine that they will settle down shortly. One of my boys is definitely more dominant than the other. They have the odd stand-off but it never comes to anything. So long as they are not really fighting they should be OK. As for handling them, my Ozzy isn't keen on being caught so I use a small tube which he seems happy to climb into and take him out in that. Once out he'll sit for a while, it's just the hands in the cage he doesn't like. May be an idea for when you try to handle your two at first to do the same...

I hope you enjoy piggy ownership, it's certainly enhanced my life!

Welcome to the forum! As Sue said, the pigs are in a new place and will have to work out who's boss pig, once they've done so things should settle down. They're definitely both boys, right?

Make sure they've got 2 food bowls so they're not fighting over food, and if they start to fight over hidey-holes then take them out for now until they've settled.

Good luck with them, we'd love to see pictures!

I hope theyre both male - I was told they were at the pet shop!
They have 2 food bowls at the moment, but Einstein is chasing Albert out of the "bedroom area" a lot (however is allowed in there at night, and they both seem to have their own area in the space).
Have a few photos of Albert, but only one of Einstein at the moment - as soon as I can get them in the pic together I'll post one!

Welcome to the forum!

Your boys will settle down, it takes time so dont worry.
As the others have said, make sure their have 2 food bowls and enough food, veg & hay for both.

Can't wait to see lots of photo's ofyour boys, wicked names you've given them

Thanks everyone! All help appreciated!
Am loving the piggies lots already so am looking forward to them growing with me!
I've managed to get a picture of them both together - not sure if it shows when I post this or not, but its under the profile pic now - Albert is the blonde one, Einstein the brown one with white "tuft" on his head (otherwise known by my friends as the one who looks like he's had paint thrown over him!)
They are growing so quickly, so even though I've only had them a week, I am already looking around for a much better cage than the one the shop sold me! :a19:
