New piggy owner

I am a new Guinea pig owner and I want to make sure my piggy Eloise has the best life possible. I got her from a pet store (on impulse, I had just moved and really wanted a buddy in my new apartment), and she was the last one left. I fell in love and she loves to cuddle and give me kisses. I even got her a huge cage with plenty of room to run around (takes up most of my living room?!?!). Anyways I work a lot and wonder if she gets lonely. I am not sure if it’s a good idea to get her a female piggy companion and whether or not it’s a good idea to get another from a pet store after everything that I’ve read after getting Eloise (spreading illness, infection, etc.). Any ideas or help is appreciated, thank you! - N

Hello and welcome to the forum! It's definitely a good idea to get a friend for her. The best way to do it is to go to a rescue and have them bond her with another piggy she gets on with. There's a list in the tab at the top of the page. If you can't do that, and end up with shop bought, be very careful that they have correctly sexed both the piggies, as they are famous for getting it wrong.
