hi I'm new to this forum but just wanted some advice.....
i bought my little boys 2 piggys on sunday(very cute, seemed fine and happy)... on monday i noticed a small bold patch on dollys back, which i thought might be due to fighting so kept my eye on them and the patch, i had to work all day tuesday when i checked it tues evening it looked bigger so first thing wed morning i phoned pah and they asked me to take them in... which i did..... they were really reluctant to tell me what they thought it was and seemed like they were trying to keep it from me..( knowing i had 2 and 3yr old children with me of my own, who have been handling the piggies) they offered to refund them or treat them with there in store vet and i would need to treat them at home which is what we did as my little boys already think the world of dolly and evie so giving them back wasnt going to happen, iv been given a cream to rub on the patch twice daily and to take her back in two weeks for a check up... as if that wasnt enough dolly has an extra toe and its hanging of!... the vet told me to just tie some cotton around it to cut of the blood supply and it will eventually fall of but i cant bring myself to do it..is this a good idea or shall i get the vet to do it when i take dolly back for a check up? dollys patch dosnt look so dry since starting the cream yesterday and shes been very good bless her even if i have been wareing gloves beacuse i dont want to risk catching ring worm or worse my little boys getting it.....what should i do if they do catch it apart from the obvious trip to the docs... will pah do anything about it? hope someone can help

Honestly you need to see a different vet, pets at home cannot be trusted and I have had experience with bad vets. A good vet will not only answer any questions but also encourage you to ask them and to help you understand what is wrong.
If its ring worm I highly doubt whatever cream they gave you is going to work and it sounds like your not positive that its ringworm which makes me think the vet was again very brief and just not bothered for the piggies :( I had a baby piggy who has mange mites and after treatment he stopped eating and my vet asked me to bring him in he didnt charge me anymore because he just wanted the piggy to be ok.

It might be costly but a second oppinion is always best, look out for reviews and reccomended vets. Everyone knows vets cost a lot but good vets won't be interested in charging unneccesarily.

Hope your piggies get well soon :)

Also if you say whereabouts you are I'm sure there will be lots of vet recomendations :)

ok thanks were in west-super-mare, when i first took them in the girls who worked in there said it looks like something they see a lot but they can tell me .. like it was a big dirty secret, i cant believe that they wouldnt be worried for my little boys that have been handling them and might catch it, the girls who worked in the shop didnt want to tell me what they thought it was so i just said to them in a almost firm, ****** of way " it looks like ring worm to me!" they just looked at eachother and one of them said were not allowed to tell you for legal reason's... (what about the people nd small children that have been touching the piggys?)
they took me down to there vets were we registered with them and the vet had a look at the piggies he pretty much confirmed it to be ring worm, reluctantly! i had to force it out of them... on a plus side dolly is looking better but i think shes licking most of it off as her fur around the patch is always looking wet and groomed like shes been licking it, hopefully it will clear up otherwise ill be checking out my local vets, dose anyone have any experience with anything similar and where do i stand legally if my kids do catch it? i wont be able to send them to nursery if they do get it,and if i get it ill have prescription charges to foot ontop of the piggies vet bills

ringworm on humans can be treated with athletes foot cream/caniston cream, no prescription required. hoppefully the children did not pick it up, make sure you wear barrier gloveds when handling them
