After looking for a while for a pair of rescue/unwanted sows i have finally secured some today....excited doesn't describe how i'm feeling!

I have a problem getting mine from rescues with so many of them up here in Scotland insisting that the pigs are kept inside so i went to the free ads (i know some of you don't agree but i was struggling to find a rescue that would rehome to me)

Anyway delighted to announce that i am giving a new home to a gorgeous pair of sows that are coming from a home where the daughter has developed an allergy :( and so they are having to find a new home for them. I hopefully pick them up this weekend and will post some pictures once i figure out how to do that!

Are there pig rescues up here, cassiedog? There are none advertising in the Guinea Pig magazine, but loads in England.

Hi PennyV. There is Hutches in Alyth (nr Perth i think) and Thistle Cavies in Argyll. There is also the rescue that was at Apex Vets Pet night the other week, not sure she advertises online but she was very insistent that she wouldn't rehome to me (an outdoor keeper!)
My two new piggies have been kept outside where they are just now so will be perfectly happy outside here! :)

They are still rescue pig's Cassie, I don't know or not your introducing them to your current pig's but if you are I would recommend quarantine first to be sure they are 100% before introductions!

Penny; there's a few rescues in Scotland not many though! x

Flintstones...Thanks. I think I'll keep them separate from my other 4...for a couple of reasons. One, don't want to upset the harmonious group i have already and two, I would need a much bigger hutch and i've just bought the one the 4 are in! I have a spare hutch big enough for the two new ones and will keep them well away from my existing pigs for a few weeks of quarantine. Can't wipe the smile off my face tonight! :)

There is 4 that I am aware of:
Thislte Cavies, Hutches, Bonnybridge rescue and paws here. The first three are very reputable but as Cassie says some dont rescue to outside homes. I am pretty sure Wendi at Thistle Cavies only rehomes to indoor piggies and I think this is fairly common for rescues tbh. Despite how good outdoor homes can be I can understand why they dont.
