Me and Sophie went to the wilds of North Norfolk to get the free ads guineas that where living in a 'chicken shed'
we didn't know how many or what condition :o
we got thier to find 8 guinea Pigs in two plastic crates in a horse stable with fresh hay and clean water
they had been moved to the stable after some went 'missing' from the other shed either to foxes rats or stoats!
the shed was falling apart holes in fencing and walls (wooden)
the stable also had a resident family of barn owls!
the pigs where mixed up 3 boars 5 sows
we didn't know ages and none had names!
of the boars one was a lemon/lilac/white about a year old
a white lemon black about 6 months
a white black tan about 3 months
these where still with the sows the first one nicknamed 'Mr Pig' didnpt like the other two so has gone to Sophies

Well done Ron and Sophie for saving the piggles if I can be of any help let me know O0

Aww well done Ron and Sophie I especially like Louise! ;D

Mr Pig has settled in fine overnight and is very bold and cuddly - has obviously been well handled at some point!

Rest are real cuties, hope they're all ok this morning Ron!

At least they were in a reasonable condition I suppose, but thank goodness they found their way to both of you. Gawain looks lovely in particular :smitten:

They are all pretty pigs and seem to have been well fed etc., only one had matted bits (minor) - just unfortunate that they had been allowed to breed indiscriminately (sp)!

Owners had no idea whose baby belonged to who... they said tiny baby belonged to agouti girl, but she doesn't look like she's ever littered. Madness! Anyway they are safe now. :smitten:

Apparently the children are now into ferrets instead ..... :-\

You would think that parents would learn about getting pets specifically for the kids after re-homing some wouldn't you ::)

Good for you both to take these little piggies on. I hope the birth's go well Ron xx

Oh Ron, I was in tears when I got your phone message about baby Beatrice.... :'( Bless you, such a shame.

Mr Pig is not doing too well either.. he has got very runny pooh and I cleaned him all up and washed his bum, dried him off and left him while I pottered round doing the others, when I came back he was all pooh-y again. Just cleaned him again, he's sat in the hay feeling sorry for himself and making odd squeaking noises. Have syringed some fluids down him, so fingers crossed. Poor chap.

Hope the others are ok, bless them

have checked on them all ok at the moment! i'll check again before bed!
I have been getting so angry at times today!
its just so annoying that they let them get in this state!
i'll definatley be annoying my district and county councillors and the MP on rescue issues for a long time yet!
Its just GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR! (lots of swear words and gestures!)

If they have been housed near birds this could be the source of the runny poo this has happened in other cases of gineas exposed to avian faeces. Am I correct in remembering that they were oused some where that had chickens?
If so contact Vedra as she has experience of this with the newmarket guineas that were recscued by Rona and Alison.
What colour is the poo?

the 'chicken shed' was an old ramshackle of a wooden thing that they said could have had rats foxes or stoats in! :o
The stable they where in was also host to swallows swifts Martins and a family of Barn Owls!

The pooh is brown and smells of horse muck. Very liquid. He is making very odd noises, poor chap.

BioLapis or just plain water?

Critical Care?

(thank goodness parcel arrived from sph supplies today! Wasn't intending to need it so soon.... :(

When Beatrice passed away this morning i had to change my top as she had peed and poped on me it was runny but put that down to her dieing that was pale brown and soft

Brown is good the bird affected poo was bright yellow :o Biolapis and CC mix them together if he can take it more solid if not biolapis and water, poor little thing just try and keep them hydrated.

Thanks, will try! He's had Biolapis and water but his eyes are half-closed... :-\

I wonder if he was more stressed than the others because he was split up from them... oh I don't know, bless him, just willing him to pull through! Never had one with the runs before... we live and learn!

I have just been and checked bottoms! ::) (The joys of nursing eh! ::)
All clean only thing odd is Victoria the one ready to pop has damp fur both sides only and looks like she has trimmed it as well!
other wise all ok Arthur and Gwan are playing silly beggaers but other wise ok

My shelties get damp at the back if they've just peed - she should be ok! I also trim them behind before they have babies just for easy access! Glad they're ok.

Not sure Mr Pig is going to make it. Am wearing most of the critical care I've tried to give him, he's not having any of it. He looks like he's giving up, but I'm NOT! He's cold too. Am off to tend to him now, please keep fingers crossd :(

Hope all the others are ok

sorry to hear about beatrice, but well done on getting them out of there you two :smitten: hope mr pig makes it and the others are ok

Sorry to say that Mr Pig didn't make it through the night. Had him wrapped in a towel in a box next to my bed in case I could do anything, but he passed away very peacefully in the early hours.

I'm gutted.

Amazing how attached you can get in 24 hours! I was looking forward to finding him a friend and watching his proper coat grow back!

Hope all the others are ok.
