New Supplier for Shredded Paper Bedding

For some reason I can't get the link to work. Would have been interested in some cheaper soft paper bedding. Wanted to try fitch but it is so expensive.

Do people find the egg box bedding to be absorbent? Was just worried about it not being very absorbent and the guinea pigs becoming wet from sitting in wet bedding.
The link in the first post is not working now because they stopped selling it. The manufacturer has been taken over by a new company and all their products are currently out of stock. I bought the shredded egg tray from PetBeddingUK but haven't tried it yet. I will try using that next week and will give you an update here how absorbent it is (or not) or whether it is a good bedding in general. :tu:

Thank you, that would be great. I would be interested in the egg bedding if it is absorbent.

I'll have a look with mine when I open it. Hopefully it won't have any egg residue!

This paper bedding business seem like only lasts a few months. I can only wish I live closer to where Fitch beding is being sold. They said it'll be just £6 for a 20kg bale if you pick it up from them! Well we live around an hour and a half I think. Next time we drop my piggies for boarding in Manchester, we'll definitely go to the fitch bedding store and grab a couple of bale.
I pick up Fitch from their store. It's much, much cheaper than online, but more like £10 rather than £6.

They aren't far from Ashton town centre

ps - they usually have bedding at the store even when it's not available online - but check first if you're going out of your way.

So I've tried the shredded egg tray for a week now. I can say it is absorbent, just like the shredded paper bedding. It also doesn't stink and it's not dusty. Although in the bale that I got, I've seen 3 or 4 feathers (so far), but not a problem though as it was easy to dispose/remove. It is not as soft as the paper bedding though, but it does the job.

Thank you, I have about another week or so of Snowflake softchip left. So I will get a bale of the egg tray bedding and give it a try.
Thanks so much for the advice.

Thanks for this. Are the shredded strips long? I bought precut teabag paper but the strips are very long. Is it possible for you to post a photo of your teabag paper? Thank you.
I've bought teabag paper too (not from this company) as bedding for my dwarf hamster and it's long strips so I have to cut it up with scissors.

Bump. Is the bedding in long strips or small bits? Just I've already got a huge bale and it's all long strips I've got to spend ages cutting with scissors

@Julie M I have recently ordered from this company.....three weeks later it has not arrived.i have got some softbed from finacard,it is virgin egg carton boxes.this seems very absorbent .

@eileen Have you received your shredded paper yet?

I haven't forgotten to take a photo and upload I havent got a device with a camera at the moment.

I am so impressed with the paper I emailed the company to tell them as I have been looking for an affordable quality one for a long time!

Oh no hopefully you can chase it up. I don't know if egg tray bedding will be OK as it was for my wee dwarf hamster. I'm considering pillow wad shavings now. As to buy carefresh will cost me £14 or something per cage clean. :yikes:

thanks @Julie M .ive left them a message via facebook.the egg tray bedding from finacard,is very much like finacard,it is cut in the same way.it is lovely and soft.piggies seem to love it.in the winter i find fleece liners a pain to dry .i have 11 cages /hutches.ive started to use vet bed in half the cage/hutch,then disposable bedding in the other half and pile the hay in !

Do you think it would be OK for a dwarf hamster though? He's teeny.

Just took the chance and ordered it. As the hamster bedding I've got is driving me mad. Lol.

i would think it will be a good bedding for any small animal!
Here's hoping it's better than the "shredded" teabag paper I've got to cut myself. Lol. The strips are so long Pookie gets lost in it. Lol. Will be a fantastic bedding but no good as a substrate.

The finacard version is very similar,it is not used egg tray cardboard is shredded into shreds, not diced.the colour is grey throughout !it is called softacard and price is £17.00 for a 20kg bag, delivery is included in the price.

That's what I've ordered.

DSC_0164.webpmy bedding came today and it is good for hamsters. So happy with it.

Fitch are out of large bags of bedding again. Although I could have smaller bags for almost twice the price. I really do wonder if they are just trying it on to see if I will pay more for it.
