New Supplier for Shredded Paper Bedding

Is it possible for you to go to Stalybridge to pick it up? If so give them a call as it's often available at their site when it's not online.
That's what we did, I normally call but last time they told me I didn't need to as "we always have stock in the winter". So we had a wasted journey.

my tea bag bedding arrived from doncaster.it is small stripps of tea bag paper,it feels like tissue paper.it is very soft.ive had it in the guinea pigs cage for two days.it looks a mess! it has soaked all the moisture and is now a soggy mess.i will not be buying this again!:(

Fitch are out of large bags of bedding again. Although I could have smaller bags for almost twice the price. I really do wonder if they are just trying it on to see if I will pay more for it.
I absolutely think they are trying it on as its so funny you can only get the small bales at twice the price. And their customer service is bad, you've only got to read the reviews.

Oh dear. Its a better hamster bedding. The finacard seems like a good bedding. Mine arrived within 2 days. Bales arent as big as the square cut egg tray bedding (I've used this previously in piggie litter trays and found it good.)

How easy is the egg box stuff to clean out? We usually use Kaytee paper bedding but we use about a bag and a half per week , so even with the Amazon subscribe and save discount thats costing a fair bit. We tried hemp which worked fine for the piggies but not so much for us because it made a mess and the bits were so small it was impossible to sweep it out of c&c corners properly and it stuck to the fleece! At least with the kaytee its big bits that stick to the newspaper when they are damp so you can roll the whole lot up and lift it out, is egg box similar?

Egg box is thicker and a bit harder than kaytee and shredded cut varies. It's easy to clean anyway. I use it in the 2-floor hutch but I have to replace most of it on the top floor everyday because my 3 piggies prefer to stay there most of the time (even if they have a big run downstairs).

So i rang Fitch today to ask when they would have the 20kg bags back in stock. They tell me that basically they probably won't do them again and are not even doing the 10kg bags as there is a 'shortage' in the supply chain. They did say i could buy 20kg (5 x 4kg) bags but that i would have to pay the £5 per 4kg bag (£25) rather than the £10-£12 pounds i usually pay for £20kg. This sounds to me like they are just out to make money now that they see there is a market for this bedding for small animals (their initial market was horses and racing greyounds i believe).

They even admitted that they had invested in a new machine to pack the 4kg bags.

I am going to try the egg box bedding instead of Fitch (i hate money grabbing companies).
