hello, we adopted to young boys over the weeekend and a lady close to us has a momma and 3 two week old pups. she said that she got the momma as a companion around Christmas and didn't know she was pregnant. she is currently busy with kids and jobs and job searching. we have the money to care for them, the room, and there is someone home almost 24/7. as we are new to piggy ownership....should we take on these pups and momma? advice please.

I just want to mention that what I say below is not supposed to put you off but just answer your question- your idea of taking them on is very kind!:)

Well it depends on your lifestyle and your commitment. It may seem all cute and an act of goodwil- which it would be  but if you cannot keep them in the long run then it's the piggies that will ultimately suffer again. By money- is that enough for a cage setup like a C and C or an insulated hutch? Don't forget vet bills and care if you fall ill or go on holiday. What sex are they because boars can sometimes fall out which you should also prepare for. Which begs the question have you done some research on diet, exercise or common diseases etc that the babies might get in the future?

I hope that this helps you a little but I can say that piggies are great little pets with lots of character and once tame they are the sweetest little guys that steal your heart! Please update us on your decision with pics etc!

by money I mean after our bills and food costs we have about $1200.00usd left per month. we do for sure plan to keep them in the long run if we get them. how much more work is 6 than 2?

There will definitely be a lot more poos! But other then that I'd say it would just mean more food, veg, hay etc a bigger or more cages and hidey holes etc and maybe more vet visits? But you get more cuddles and wheeks so you win! :)

we decided to adopt them, my husband is building me a 5ft by 3ft guinea pig table lol with two shelves, and I bought another complete set up with another 8 Sq ft cage

I have to get fleece for the other cage as I only got two seperate pieces for my other cage to rotate out. but here is my new table made by my hubby for my bday and both cages. will make a new post of the babies and momma tomorrow20170205_225623.webp
