hi Sue welcome to the forum I've got 29 pigs and some of them were rescues but they stay with me forever, hope you make lots of great new friends

I'm from Telford Shropshire

I have always taken in guinea pigs that come through for what ever reason, but as a few who know me will tell you I struggle to bond with them.I'm hoping to learn to male (boar ) guinea pigs more so seem to think its a good idea to bite me and show aggression. I have been bite by several and think its because they know I'm not too comfortable with them having been bite before lol. So saying some are gorgeous and I have started to get a soft spot for piggies (dont tell Debs know she comes on here)shhhhhh. :-X
I have 4 of my own 2 old times and two that came in in such a state I couldnt let them go by the time they got fit and well they where in my heart so stayed with me.
Thanks for the welcome folks and sure theres many tips I will learn from you all on guinea pig keeping. Thanks again ;)

just wondering about your fostering for the rspca, how did you go about it? did you gather hutches and cages etc:or do they supply these? is it essential that you drive, i would love to do this but do not drive.

Fostering wise it started with a friend of mine that works for the RSPCA and She asked would I like to be a foster home.I wasnt sure at all but I love it it really is simple, You do have to provide the hutches runs or the cages for the animals You are willing to Foster They do not provide them. The fact you dont drive makes no odds, They come to inspect The hutches and runs and everything and pass you as a foster home.
You then decide how many animals you can cope with and look after and provide for and they see if they agree and thats it you set the amount your willing to have at any one time.
Foster homes are always needed and ok their will be tears and times things upset you but to see other animals go on to new homes and nice people makes it worth it. :)

thanks furball, it's great that i don't need to drive. Will give it some thought, i know i'd love to do it but the Other half is another story... thanks again xpaulax

Your welcome and Fostering is very rewarding , letting go sometimes can be hard :smitten:.But the end the day it is time consuming and I sometimes as a Mum and wife have been a bit pushed to juggle everything when alot of animals where sick or came in needing alot of attention. But I managed it and I do love doing it they day I didnt is the day Id quit, I think the key is to be firm with yourself and limit yourself to what you know You can cope with and still live a normal life with your partner or family.
Fostering is a great thing and I love it :smitten:

That's the main thing isn't it, even if you only foster a few a year you have made a difference. :)
