hi, I'm interested in mage a diy cage but cant seem to find the cage grids in the uk. are ther any shops that sell them.

You need to wick the fleece before using. That is, wash it several times until liquid doesn't sit on it, but goes through. Don't use fabric conditioner as this affects the wicking of the fabric. If you use old towels underneath the wee goes through and is absorbed by the towel. Alternatively you can use a mattress liner underneath (padded ones, not plastc). Use white vinegar in the final rinse - I find this makes a difference. Also put pee pads in the areas they wee the most, so you can change them easily. I use noodle mats. You could also try litter trays, lined with newspaper and filled with hay, or put them under a hay rack, as they tend to wee where they eat, so again it keeps it in one place and is easily changed......I think that's everything, lol. Good luck, I hope you get on better with the fleece trying these tricks. XHello so a couple questions. I tried to do fleece bedding with my guinea pigs but it seems like it stinks really bad and I have to wash everything all the time. I put down puppy pads on the bottom but they go threw so many that it's not worth it. I was wondering if I could buy something to go on the bottom? Or have some help with the fleece cuz I could be doing this all wrong
Reenie's suggestions are very good. I add: sometimes fleece becomes "ready" just after one wash, other times you need another wash. Wash it into the washing machine using a quite high temperature.Hello so a couple questions. [/QUOTE]How do you know if the blanket is ready? And what are leaflets? QUOTE="rome_italy, post: 2106178, member: 125116"]Reenie's suggestions are very good. Under the fleece I put the leaflets of the supermarket; I can get tons of them and once a day I remove only the wet spots replacing the wet paper with some new one. Free and effective. Newspapers work as well, but you should remove too much paper because the page is large and the wet spot is little...
On the bottom (the cage is on the floor) I have a first layer with an old blanket (for a softer floor), then a towel, then the paper, then the fleece.
If you search for correx sheet on e-bay, you'll find some. It's quite easy to cut, just remember the rule- measure twice, cut once. I've lost count of the times I've cut too soon and made a mistake.
