New toy has arrived!

Ooh today is exciting! I treated myself (and the piggies) to a dehydrator!

Ive just quickly popped out the the garden and grabbed some dandelion, bramble, sticky weed and thistle to give it a little go!

I’m hoping to try and build a bit of a supply for over the winter because I’ve really noticed how much the pigs are loving their forage now it’s all growing back. I normally spend a small fortune on buying it (and probably still will ) but would be nice to be able to supplement it from my garden and local area!

That looks exactly the same one that my son has for drying his chillies 🌶

Well I’m very happy! Didn’t put a lot in it and didn’t use all the trays as just wanted to test it. Had it on whilst I’ve done some sewing and think I’ve probably had it on longer than it needed but it’s done the job and I feel more confident that I might be able to build a forage store for winter!

I have a dehydrator too - my Aga slow oven... The only problem is, it doesn't have a timer. The other day I put 2 trays of dandelion leaves and flowers in, and promptly forgot about them! I finally remembered 24 hours later, I now have some very dessicated dandelions
