I have a feeling that my pigs are growing to be sick of the same veggies I'm always giving them (ie carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, parsley, kale etc.).

It would be wonderful to hear what you guys give your piggies on the daily or just any new fruits and veggies in general for us to try (and that are piggy safe of course). :D

I have a 10 week old and he doesn't seem to like veggies. I am trying parsley, celery (cut up small), cucumber and brussel sprouts. He likes his hay and pellets, and the only fruit he likes so far is banana. Do they like more veggies as they grow?

Yes! when they're younger, theyre still working on trusting you and exploring what they can eat. when I first got my pigs, I would I hold one of their favorite foods out a few inches away from them so they can walk towards me to catch the scent of my fingers and they associate that with when I'm giving them the food.

Now when I'm introducing a new food, I do the same thing and hold it out for them to smell and try it. If they're just being stubborn, I leave it in the cage and I always come back to find it gone. Leaving them alone with the food gives them more time to explore the food. you should also try other veggies like the ones I listed in my original post. I just happened to feed my pigs too much of the same things so theyre slowly beginning to no longer like it, although they loved it all before. That's why its important to have a large variety of veggies which I'm currently working on expanding. Give it some time and I bet he'll come to love more veggies one day!

My piggies absolutely love lettuce mix (has spinach and fluffy lettuce etc in it), carrot, capsicum, corn occasionally, cucumber, silverbeet, apple occasionally.

Hey, is your piggy an only pig? They learn from each other what's "safe" and what's not to eat.

Thanks for the suggestions! how do you feed the corn? on a cob or in bits?

Coriander and cucumber. Baby sweet corn, parsley and dill ( those three only occasionally). Silverbeet sometimes. Radish leaves and celery leaves as a rare treat.

My boar loves-(he gets fruit sparingly)
Vege: cucumber, bell peppers, lettuce, kale, broccoli, celery (though probably the least favourite out of this list),cabbage, sprouts, basil and watercress.
Fruit:banana,Apple, orange,plum,grape...

Yes, he is an only piggy (at least for now!) I try something different everyday and leave it in the cage all day or overnight, and he doesn't seem interested. I will keep trying!

If I'm wanting something different to try I often look up what's in season. It's a bit difficult right now since there is only cabbage type veg in season right now and my single pig is fussy but I try her on little bits. Rosemary, sprouts and celery were all rejections

I wouldn't recommend giving rosemary - or any of the Mediterranean herbs.

My boys are a lot fussier than my girls.
Girls will eat most veg: beetroot, celery, sweetcorn, celery, parsley, coriander, mint, parsley, melon, cucumber, broccoli, spring cabbage, peppers, apple, kale, fennel, pak choi, green bean. The only things they have not eaten is sprouts, grapes and banana
My boys wont eat beetroot, broccoli, sweetcorn, apple or banana
I obviously dont give all this at once, this is just a list of what I have fed them

Mine like apples, blueberries, carrots, strawberries and I sometimes give them a small amount of spinach. They usually leave the cucumbers. They especially love shredded baby carrots. I know you shouldn't give them a lot of tropical fruit, but I let them try a bite of pomagranate once (I didn't let them eat the seed) and they seemed to LOVE that.

I suggest you buy Vitamen C drops to put in their water. It tastes like orange and prevents scurvy, and they love the taste.

My pigs always hated vit C drops. To get them to take it I had to put it in their pea flakes. But they certainly didn't take them with as much vigor as they had previously so I ended up giving up and giving them extra pepper.

Really? Maybe it's the brand.

It isn't really recommended to use drops or any additives in water.
It is far better to provide them with a balanced diet so they get all of the nutrients they need naturally.
Sometimes adding things to their water can put them off drinking which is obviously not ideal.
The only time I would supplement with vitamin C would be if I was dealing with an unwell piggie who needed a boost.

As for food suggestions, my lot love fennel and blueberries (Eddi made me write that last bit!).

The drops I have were recommend by the vet because two 2 of my pigs had come down with scurvy. They are perfectly recovered now and the drops have worked wonders. They seemed to love the taste because I left a bowl without drops in as well and they all only drank from the one with the vitamen C. I now only give it to them every other day just to prevent further problems.

we've always kept vit C drops but never really used them. I'll see how they like the taste! of course, the vitamins should be obtained mostly through fruits and veggies but this sounds like a good idea, thanks!

The bulb of the fennel or the leaves. I love fennel in salads so might tey it on the piggies. Is it a occasional veg?

My piggies love anything herby, coriander, dill, they had some mint tonight, basil and parsley. They get celery, green peppers/caosicum because thats what I regularly buy, lettuce mix (not ice berg), cucumber, parsnip, zucchini/courgette, carrot, spinich rarely, silverbeet, baby corn, baby tomato, green beans, red apple ( they are not fond of green) or banana skin once a week on treat friday or if I'm having a roast during the week they will get a small piece of sweet potato but no fruit that week. Some of these they only get occasionally obviously. Jeez those piggies eat better than me lol.

George is fussy but rather likes a bit of red cabbage at the moment. They both like chicory ("endibias" here in Spain), parsley, romaine and other types of lettuce e.g. Curly endive, spinach, celery leaves, carrots and sometimes the leafy tops in moderation. Lily sometimes likes runner bean and green bean pods. They also get a tiny piece of banana after having their nails trimmed!

They also tend to suddenly go off certain veg, usually after I've just bought a whole load of something! Neither pig is keen on strong tasting herbs.
