I've only had my new piggies a few days and am a bit worried as they don't seem to be drinking a lot of water. Does it take them a while to get used to a new bottle?

I have held them both up to the bottle and am giving them cucumber etc. so they are getting water but am worried it's not enough. I'm reluctant to put a bowl in as if they spill it then I won't be able to keep track of what they're drinking and they may never get used to their bottle!

piggies don't always drink a lot if they are getting plenty of veggies! they should drink if they are thirsty. Just make sure that it is at a comfortable level for them and not too high if they are only little!

A lot of young piggies haven't learned to use the bottle yet. Move the ball regularly when they are near (but don't hold them up to it, as they may be frightened. Until then, make sure that they get plenty of fresh and washed food.

Some guinea pigs refuse to drink - I had one of them. She could do it, but just didn't want to!

i have bowls and bottles in all of my cages as originally mine were all drinking from bowls beofre i got them, although now i do catch them using the bottle fairly regulary but if i don't put the bowls in they don't get enough,i use ceramic bowls and not once have they been tipped over not even by my biggest piggies, maybe thats worth a shot x

My pair only drink about 100ml each a day if that even in the heat* we have at the moment. They get cucumber and get a couple of hours out on the grass though.

*it's pretty warm in England this week!
