I've joined this forum to ask a quick question a few weeks ago I introduced my 3 year old pig to a new baby the meeting went perfectly and my older girl seems alot more lively since adding the new addition

now there seems to be a problem the baby is constantly rumbling at my old girl and has taken over the house so to speak but tbh I think she is still getting used to her new life and likes to hide. I'm planning on buying either another house or a larger on for them to share this weekend when I get paid which option do you think would be better? one to share or another individual one?

sorry went a little off track there...so the problem is the baby is pretty much constantly rumbling away, no teeth chattering or anything although I do see a litte nose bumping and today when I took my old girl out the fur on her nose looks dirty (shes white) which I am assuming is from baby perhaps trying to bite/nosing at her?

they haven't scrapped yet but will this pass? I get they are asserting dominance I guess I just assumed the older one would be top pig naturally

Hi and welcome!

It is dominance behaviour and it can take a few weeks to die down. It doesn't sound like you need to worry though. How old is your baby? Have you checked the sex?

Getting two houses would be great; ideally one that is big enough that both can sleep together. If necessary, a temporary cardboard box will do! Most piggies like to spend at least part of their time on their own, but they also like to snuggle up at some point.

Often having two bowls spaced slightly away can also help.

thanks for the quick reply
they are both girls I checked myself to be sure lol and the baby is about 3 months old

I will definatly get another feeding bowl and another house this weekend too :)
