Hi,

We rescued a GP years ago he lived on his own for 8 years (indoors) he has been gone 3 years and we have eventually got over not having him and we have now got two 10 week old boars.

The smallest is very dominant and does lots and lots of noises his name is Mr Dougall, he doesn’t come to be lifted (we’ve only had them 5 days but his brother is the opposite) once lifted he will happily be stroked, he doesn’t like to roam around the living room he puts himself back to bed.

Mr Arthur is super confident around humans he literally begs to get up and will sit with any of us being smothered in love but he makes a sound constantly as we pet him it’s like a quiet squeaky wheel he doesn’t try to go away and doesn’t mind being lifted, isn’t in pain he looks content but quietly squeaks like a wheel.

Thanks

Hi and welcome!

Nothing wrong with vocal and dramatic youngsters! They will quieten down more eventually after 4 months of age. You can take from the pitch and volume just how excited your baby is; some, like your baby, can be real drama queens, especially when they are away from their group.

At that age, their nonstop chatter serves as a baby alarm/constant update of the most vulnerable piggies in a group that is used to move through thick grass over quite considerable distances (1 mile or more) between feeding grounds and a deep abandoned set at dawn and dusk. The youngsters have the range but not yet necessarilythe experience to recognise and avoid dangers and threats. All guinea pigs on the move chunter to keep in touch.
