I have seven piggies who being young are all in good health. Should I register them now at a vets/do guineas require regular check ups? Or is it possible to take on to a local vet without registering them when a problem occurs? I can just imagine turning up with all seven in one go. I don;t think I have a box large enough mallethead

I know if you have a concern you can ring up a vet, without being registered, for an appointment. Maybe spend some time looking around for a vet who knows about guinea pigs. Some people on here are very fortunate with their vets, others have had bad experiences. There is a thread, not sure where, maybe at the top of the health and illness section about recommended vets. Perhaps you could see if there is one listed their in your area. I think you would create a bit of a stir, and some wheeking, if you took 7 out together. lol x

I would register, but after I had a look around for as guinea pig savvy a vet as possible in my range. It makes it easier in an emergency when you need a vet QUICK!

There is a sticky thread about recommended vets at the top of the health/illness section. It's also worth to enquire after exotics vets in your region, as guinea pigs are in that category.

My vet is called "All Creatures Pet Hospital"...but only one vet there takes on guinea's...so I have to make sure she is there.

One thing I would say is, even if you don't register, do find a vet who you are very comfortable with. You don't want to find out the vet is useless when you need the vet to save your pigs lives!

Perhaps Sophie, Vikki or Ron could advise of good vets in Norfolk? If you do find a good one, I'd definitiely recommend registering with them.
