Hi All,

I’m looking for some advice please. I bought a cage from Pets at Home which measures 46 inches long and 22 inches wide for my two baby girls. I understand that this is not big enough for them and I’m looking to buy a SINGLE storey C&C cage but it’s all so confusing. Can anyone tell me (or even better post a link) to a suitable sized one. Also there seems to be some sort of special flooring when I’ve looked on the internet. I spent a lot of money on their original cage and want to get it right this time. Your advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Jackie

The cage you have measures 116cm x 55cm which is too small. The minimum for two sows is 120cm x 60cm. (Are the measurements you’ve given internal or external measurements - the internal will be less)
A c&c for two girls - you need a 2x4 c&c cage - that measures 150cm x 77cm.

the flooring is up to you - a lot of people use correx, but anything that protects your floor (ie plastic sheeting) will work. You then out something absorbent down and then your bedding of your choice on top

if you search for candc guinea pig cages then there is a uk based company who sells complete c&c cage kits - itll be everything you need to build it - grids, connectors, correx

You could still use the cage you’ve got but connect grids to the front of it to make it bigger, and still use correx or plastic sheeting to floor the part surrounded by grids. You can buy the grids (with connectors) from Amazon rather than a full c&c cage (although you do need to make sure the grids you buy have 9 holes not 8)

Hi!

You can find links to companies providing C&C cages to order via this link here; they will also provide non-standard cages if wished and will send you the necessary grids, connectors and correx liner for the cage in whatever cage form you want. All About C & C Grid Cages Around The World

Fleece bedding is the best to use in a C&C grid cage. You can find all information on our practical how-to fleece guide in here: A Detailed Guide For Fleece Bedding

Information on alternative forms of bedding in this link here: Bedding For Guinea Pigs - Overview

All these guides are part of our New Owners information and practical tips collection, which is much more comprehensive and makes a great resource as we are addressing all the areas we get the most often asked questions and cries for help about. We have also included guides that help you learn what is normal and what not and how to spot illness early on; understanding guinea pig behaviour and how to make friends with them together with practical in in-depth care and feeding guides. We are deliberately not glossing over the tricky points that can trip up new owners and are as practical and precise as possible. A good link for bookmarking and getting more background information on the points we are making in our posts: Getting Started - New Owners' Most Helpful Guides
