Hi guys, i'm new to this forum and am interested in possibly getting some piggies in the future (although nothing definate as yet.)
I know piggies are supposed to be moved into garage/shed at winter - would they not survive the winter in just a hutch?

What is the best food for g-pigs and do they need anything from vets (apart from if ill obviously!) ie: teeth checks, injections etc?

any tips for a 1st time owner would be great!
thanks

They probably would survive the winter in a hutch as long as the hutch was in a sheltered position in your garden & had suitable covering on it (ie a hutch hugger or similar) tho' long gone are the days when i brave all weathers to piggy clean - it's much nicer, for all concerned, to either have them in a shed/garage or indoors.

Foods - You can feed a muesli type dry food or a pelleted form - have a look here at food reviews & also at the Guinea Pig Shopping List http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=17

Bedding Reviews are here http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=9

Piggies don't need vaccinations & i personally don't take them for "routine" check-ups, they only see the vet if they are ill :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.I'm sure others can give you good advice about keeping pigs in your area.
