Hello. My name is Ana and I seem to be having a very big problem over here. My beloved Tequila got pregnant and when time came for her to give birth, because of a very unprofessional vet both her and the baby almost died. I did find another vet, who consulted her, and he had to perform a cesarian section to deliver the baby. Once he started operating he discovered that there was only one baby, and he was way to big for Tequila to deliver him naturally. after the surgery both Tequila and the baby were fine, but she was so exhausted after her experience, after having grown a giant baby and having her uterus and her ovaries removed, that finally, in the evening i guess she just needed to have a good ol` rest, and passed away. And my big problem now is that i have a 2 day old baby on my hands, i haven`t been able to find any surrogate mother, and until this morning the baby seemed to do just fine with the formula i had been hand feeding him with. He is very active, he ate well yesterday, he pooped a couple of times but today his stool became mustard-yellow, and has the consistency of mucus. I`m worried that his stool is too soft and i`m terrified that something might happen to him, as i promised his mother that i would take good care of him and that the baby will be fine. i know it sounds silly, but i absolutely love the little sap, and his mother was an excelent companion. Could anyone please tell me if that kind of stool is normal and possibly give me a few more pointers on how to hand raise a guinea pig?
He was born the size of a 3 week old guinea pig, he is very lively, he sleeps well, eats well and feels very comfy with his foster mummy in the little pouch i`ve made so that i can keep him warm and he never has to feel alone.
I would very much appreciate any kind of help, as i have never had a baby guinea pig before, and here in Romania, vets don`t know all that much about these lovely creatures.

i haven't got any experience with newborns. if you were here in the UK i'd say either get the baby to a rescue or vets where someone who has done this before can help you, or maybe look after them for you until the worst is over.
all i can is the very best of luck, i really hope your little friend pulls through and i'm sure someone else on here can give you some advice on how to care for him.

Welcome to the forum. I too do not have any experience of newborns but if you google guinea lynx website there is a section there on how to feed newborns and what to give them.

Best of luck with him, and sorry for your loss on mum pig.

All the best to your little baby! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him!
