Newly Baled Hay

Can guineapigs eat hay from the farm that has just been baled? Or does it need to sit a few mnths First ?

I would not feed it to my guinea pigs as we don't feed it to the ponies for at least 3 months after it is baled or it causes digestive upsets (typically colic in a horse or diarrhoea. Though the farmer says it depends on the type of hay it is.....
