Newspaper, how safe?

How safe is newspaper? I picked up a metro on the bus today and didn’t know whether it was safe enough to screw up for them to play with

Mine eat newspaper they have peed on pretty regularly as I use it to line the playpen. Pretty safe I reckon? Unless they get obsessive about eating it but if there's hay on offer too its usually just a few nibbles. They like the rustly sound it makes and Piggle is particularly fond of peeing on the crossword then eating it I usually try arrange it so there's a photo of a politician or celebrity I dont like in the toilet corner

Newspaper is fine, just remember with the Metro to take the staples out.

All of my pigs have chewed/eaten newspaper with no ill effects. I think it used to be quite bad but there are much better rules now regarding the safety of inks
