Newspaper Scoffing...

HI... I use The Sun newspaper to line my hay tray - its free and to be honest - all its good for ! Noticed that Pippin sometimes scoffs some of it, now i know cardboard is ok but was a bit unsure about the newspaper with it having the print/ink on it ?

The late Peter Gurney in one of his books wrote that it's normal for guinea pigs to eat newspaper, and that as long as they don't actually read it first, it will do them no harm!

My piggies sometimes enjoy tearing up and eating bits of newspaper, and I've never observed any ill effects from this, in over a decade of keeping guineas!

We get the daily mirror and sometimes Sunday times (in laws) I do encourage my piggies to pee on those directly. They also love tearing up the news paper and chewing on it I wouldn't worry.
