had my gp for a while now and have always lined his cage with newspaper under fleese and have nevr had a problem, last night he discovered he could get under the fleese and is munchin his way through the paper, i sthis unsafe for him, shall i remove the news paper?

Ours always dig up the fleece for the newspaper, I can't see what harm it does them though. We give ours the paper mushroom bags to play in which they love and sometimes even crumple up balls of newspaper for them which they throw around and eat.

Pitch and Putt love chewing their newspaper!

Yep piggies loves chomping on newspaper lol They'll be fine.

I always thought it was only newspaper ink that was safe? Not ink on normal paper? Or pen ink or anything? Just dont want any new members to get wrong ideas about what kind of paper pigs can shred, but I could be wrong.

Yes, I am asking about newspaper ink. Are both color and black and white safe?

Biscuit is a non-stop toilet paper eater! I don't see any problems with it - I do try to stop him when he's eating paper with Caramel's mess on it though!

I think as long as they're still eating their hay and other food, there's nothing wrong with a bit of paper every now and then :)

The question is specifically about newspaper though. I'm assuming the OP meant the ink.

Newspaper is primarily cellulose (plant based). Ink is primarily carbon.

I have always treated it as benefical for my piggies and their guts....provided they don;t eat too much.. Move right over Benecol :)):))
