Two of my sows (1 year old and 6 month old) occasionally nibble each other’s necks. Most of the time it’s the 6 month old nibbling the 1 year old’s neck. None of the other guinea pigs in my herd (3 sows, 1 neutered boar) do this, and neither do it with the other sow. Is this normal?

My boys do this. Well, the dominant one does it to the submissive one. For my guy this happens during the exertion of dominance behavior. Usually rumblestrutting followed by head raising then Cappy goes in with his head and (at first I thought he was hurting/biting Mokey) nibbles or nips him behind the head/neck. Never any blood and he doesn’t do it often as much. I still get worried when he does this though.

Does your two both do it or only one piggy?

Nothing to worry; it's a bit of very mild rivalry/dominance, I would assume. Your 6 months old is currently at the peak of teenage.

Mainly the younger one, followed by the older one rumble strutting past. Thank you!
