Senior Guinea Pig
This morning Terk showed us that it was time to make the decision when she refused her beloved dry food and turned her nose up at her veg even though she was all excited when we put it in. Last night her breathing had got progressively worse and she had started to turn her nose up even then. Syringe feeding would never have been an option as she couldn't breathe and it would have just delayed the inevitable and made her miserable so at about 9.40 she passed peacefully in Ross' arms at the vets.
She had had her ovarian tumour for around 2 years in total and has amazed us with how long she has managed to live a normal life in spite of it. She was supposed to come to us to live with the herd after her husboar Tantor died but she had other ideas, and showed us and poor Johnny her true character. Ellie however, brought out her gentle side and they lived happily together for around I think 18 months.
We love you beautiful girl, you have left such a big hole in both ours and your previous Mum's hearts, we will never forget you. Go have fun at the bridge and make sure you are nice to Tantor. We will look after Ellie for you.
