PopcornPigs
Adult Guinea Pig
On Saturday 7th November I lost my little fuzzy baby, Frazzle.
Frazzle has always been a very special guinea pig to me, he was the first guinea pig I had bought on my own (rather than through my parents). From the start he was always a strong character.
He was damn cheeky! On his first evening in my bedroom he managed to escape his cage. I opened my bedroom door to him startled in the middle of the floor. He darted and gave me a good run around that night and I'll always remember that cheeky little face.
Once he was neutered Frazzle met Annie and they have lived together ever since. They've never been a cuddly couple. I always described them as the old married couple as she would trot behind him and act all innocent, however if he did anything out of line she would put him in his place! It was a hate love relationship, and it would always be an 'aww' moment when you saw them cuddling.
Several months ago Frazzle somehow damaged his lower incisor - it had chipped and ever since then it never grew back properly. This caused all of the other teeth to move out of line and he eventually had to have fortnightly conscious dentals. On Saturday Fraz was booked in for a morning dental, I went to give everyone their breakfast and get him ready for the trip. I noticed he wasn't looking right, he seemed slow and uninterested (which is very unlike him) - the night before he had been up at the bars for his night night treat. As it was my fiancé taking him to the vets I told him to have him checked out.
The vet agreed he wasn't himself. He was also very dehydrated (although I checked, and his water bottle was working fine/accessible etc) and his temperature was lower than it should be. On instruction we syringe fed him rehydration salts and critical care however he seemed to be deteriorating rapidly. Within a few hours I suspected he wasn't going to make it and I was devastated. I gave Frazzle lots of cuddles and kisses on the sofa but unfortunately, things got a lot worse and I feared it was best to take action as I didn't want him to suffer any longer. He was unable to hold himself up and he appeared to be having seizures. My partner returned home and we rushed to the emergency vets where he was taken from me immediately. Sadly, it was time to say goodbye :'( . We gave him a final kiss and he passed away on the table.
I'll never forget my favourite FuzzBuzz. I always gave him special treatment as he was always special to me. He always had first pick of the veg at dinner time. I would hold the bowl to him and let him choose what he wanted before dishing out the rest. He was also a fantastic cuddler. He would just lay in your lap and fall asleep whilst you brushed or stroked him. And his piggy lips were divine. Very kissable
It was so sudden but I will always remember him for the good times.
RIP my baby
