After a week long battle with bloat which it turns out was secondary to heart failure we had to make the decision to help our beautiful Honey to the bridge tonight. I have posted on her healing wheeks thread but wanted to do a proper tribute too.

I don't know why I called her Honey bunny as she was a pig after all but it just seemed to fit.

Honey came to live with us on 1 December 2010 after being dumped at the Pets at Home adoption centre aged 4.

She was an extremely lazy pig but could move when she wanted to though she had a very funny hop like run. She lived with the herd and was at the top of the ranking with Gertie and Johnny and was always in the middle of the veggie scrum. She owned the yellow hay kitchen and any pig that got too close to her when she was in there got booted out. She also loved sleeping on the vet bed.

She was quite a cuddly pig too especially after her diagnosis of a heart condition when she got used to her daily medications and allowed us to cuddle her a lot more.

Sweet dreams beautiful girl, we will never forget you.

The day she arrived

I am so sorry! It is so gutting to lose her under those circumstances and after such a battle for her life. It takes time to come to terms with it all, and only then you can let go and appreciate the depth of your bond, and all the happiness you have each brought to the other.

Thanks Wiebke, I think it was that last week with her that affected me so much. When we lost Woody it was different as he hadn't been ill and I just found him. That last week Honey and I spent together was very special.
