Senior Guinea Pig
My lovely Monkalina the Syrian hammy passed away this week. She was born on 29th September 2012 so went too soon
She was a result of an accidental litter my cousin ended up with a mishap and she was the result. The father and Mother I believe came from same shop so could be to do with inbreeding....
She showed no signs of illness and found her in permanent sleep in her bed, when she didn't come to me when I summoned her. Hoping she just slipped away with no pain...
She was a lovely hammy as my cousin had a very special bond with her mother and therefore was able to handle the pups when they were a couple of days old so she was handled daily for all her life, she was so loving and never bit anyone. Excepting me a couple of times when I accidentally leant on her cage, and it was only a nip. This is my fault as when she was younger I never put my hand in her cage. I trained her to come out of the cage for cuddles by herself as I wanted her to have independence. She would always come when I called her but it meant her cage was her territory In which no one was allowed lol, including me.
she had a good life with me so that is a little comfort. She had daily play time in a play pen and more toys than my guineas lol. (I over compensated as she couldn't have a friend due to her breed)
Here's a picture of the gorgeous girlie she was a lovely greyish brown with a white/ cream tummy:
