We have just become guinea owners in the last year.
Our love of small furry animals began in April 2008 with Penfold and Squiggle 2 lovely dwarf hamsters. That summer Rio came into our lives from a friend he was a syrian.
He sadly passed in Jan 2010 and my daughter Leanne was so upset. He was such a calm and tame hamster always there for cuddles.
Meanwhile Squiggle and Penfold continued to live much longer than we expected as I'd heard they only live about 2 years max.
My girls were so good with them as many kids just lose interest after a few months and they continued to get them out every day. What a pair of wee characters they were. Squiggle ended up in the wastepaper bin once! My grandson whos 5 stuck his finger in his mouth squiggle bit down hard, Liam pulled his hand away with squiggle holding on tight. He flew through the air straight to a soft landing of paper. LOL.
Squiggle passed earlier this year at 3 years old and Penfold just the other week 3 years and 4 months old.
Leanne misses them bless her.
All are at peace in our garden. :(

Wow they are really good ages for dwarf hamsters. All 3 were beautiful. Night night little ones.

RIP Squiggle, Penfold and Rio run free at the bridge, have fun playing on the big hammie wheel, enjoy munching away on the little treats you all so love, you'll all be so very sadly missed by your whole family but NEVER forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

aww thanks for your replies, I am touched.
I believe they lived so long because they were so loved and never neglected. (nanny moved them downstairs when their mummys were away visiting Dad)

What beautiful hamsters, I'm so sorry :( I used to keep hamsters myself but was devastaed when they died, one of mine (dommy) lasted until he was3.5 years. I was so gutted.

Loved them all. I feel your loss right now as I remeber how I felt :(
