Hi, I was wondering if this was okay. My guinea pigs have been living in their small hutch that is completely made out of wood (no mesh). They are outside and the hutch is connected to their big run which they can use during the day. At night when the temperature Varys from 9 to 15 degrees are they okay to be in the hutch outside with no shed and no hutch cover. Thank you

Mine live in a hutch in the garden without a shed. They have a hutch cover which is insulating and weatherproof though the front gets rolled up if we aren't expecting rain. I have had them the first year in this hutch without the insulating cover but I would be worried about no weatherproof cover incase of heavy rainfall during the night as it does get in through the bars and makes the bedding wet

If it was raining but not heavy should I let them in the run bearing in mind they can go back in the hutch at any time as it’s all connected or should I keep them locked in the hutch

At night when you can't supervise you shouldn't be letting them in the run. The wet, cold floor is not good for them and most runs aren't fox/badger/other predator proof

Thankfully mine are in a shed. I leave the shed door open all day and night during the summer. ;)

Do you mean your hutch is completely wooden with no see through areas? I'd be worried about them being in complete darkness. If not, I still wouldn't let them out in the rain even during the day as wet grass / concrete isn't good for them
