Hi there, as some of you know, we're boarding two guinea boys at the moment, which is why I signed up to this forum. Nilson (1 year) came to us on his own, but the owners (close friends) agreed that we could get him a friend and a bigger cage while they were gone. So we got Ben, who is now an estimated 8-10 weeks old. They'll be leaving in two weeks time and I'll be missing them dearly, especially since Ben is finally starting to trust us now. I think he wasn't handled a lot before we got him and when he was handled he must have been handled quite roughly. He still runs away when we move around the cage (although he comes out when we sit still without fast movements), but for quite some time he would only be able to relax in my lap when Nilson was with him. Today for the first time, Ben was relaxed enough in my lap on his own that he actually started eating some parsley (so far he had always ignored it, because he was too scared without Nilson).
They are getting along really well so far (luckily), with Nilson having matured since Ben's arrival and now being the calm, mature one. Ben on the other hand is a wild child and now starting to show some signs of puberty. He tries to mount Nilson occasionally, but Nilson has no problems showing Ben his limits. I do feel a bit sorry for him sometimes when I think what he'll have to put up with in the next year or so. Then again, he seems so much happier now that he has Ben, so I'm sure they'll make it through Ben's puberty without major harms.
