i have two make guinea pigs named bandit and cocoa. they have always gotten along fine but lately have been fighting more and bandit has gotten a nip in the butt that resulted in him losing some fur. i’m able to separate them but i just need to know how to treat it! thanks :)

** i know i most likely don’t need to seperate them yet but i am able to should it come to that

:wel:

How old are they?
How big is their cage?
Do they have two/three of every item?

read the guides below as they will help you decipher what is going on between them.

You do need to be aware that if they are fighting and injuries are being inflicted, then they will need to be separated.

they’re about 4 months old, i have two of everything except a hay rack, which i keep in the middle of the cage so they can both access it from either side. their cage is 4x2 feet but i am getting a second 4x2 tomorrow to attach (or to move one to in case they need separating) i’ve been watching them since the bite and they don’t seem to be doing any harm anymore. however i just need to know if i need to treat the wound, and if i do then how. it’s small so i’m not sure if anything needs to be done, i’ll insert pics below. (i’m a new owner and pretty inexperienced with this stuff so i’m sorry if i sound stupid haha81186A5A-98FA-49DC-BC25-AE4AF6E9ACFE.webp

You could try some saline solution to ensure it is clean, but having a vet check it could also be useful to ensure it doesn’t get infecfed as it is from a bite wound.
At 4 months testicles are starting to descend and they are coming into their teenage months. Keep an eye out for their behaviour, and while you do need to let them get on with sorting themselves out and dominance behaviours are going to continue from herein, you need to be aware of what is normal and what is more of a warning sign of a problem in their behaviour. If any blood is drawn during an altercation, then their relationship won’t be able to continue.

bandit’s cut has healed up almost completely with no signs of infection and it seems that they finally sorted themselves out. thank you for the advice :)
