Hi I have two girls one 11wks poppy and willow is 9wks. I've noticed over last few days that poppy nips when being held.Is this a normal thing or should I be worried. Can I get her out of this habit. Help would be appreciated. Thanks .

Hi and welcome!

Please take the time to read these guides here. You will find them very helpful. Make sure that you invite Poppy into the group you are leading and tell her repeatedly that you love her before and after you disapprove of something. This mimics how savvy piggies integrate newbies and is something they instinctively understand and accept because it makes sense to them. Guinea pigs identify themselves by the strictly hierarchical group they belong to.
Please wash your hands before handling in case it something nice smelling/tasting that your little one is exploring and not expressing the desire to get back to the companion.

BTW...Even though guinea pigs are prey animals and CAN bite sometimes, they usually do not constantly nip. Guinea pigs can usually feel safer when they are first being held when they are in some sort of snuggle "sack" or wrapped up in a blanket. The only time my Gingy nips at me a little bit is when I cut his nails (he throws quite a tantrum, lol) but otherwise I've never had any major biting problems.
