My piggys nipples seem to have got very long could this be a problem, I've checked them all again & they are definately girls, so she can't be pregnant,
Also the same piggy seems to have lost weight not major, I've tried to divide her off so she gets her own food bowl. She'll eat a little then worries at the divider because she wants to go with the others, plus I'm a little worried the others will get cross that she is segrated, she's a year old.

Its possible its a hormonal problem, l recommend a vet check in view of her weight loss. If l think a piggy needs extra food l pop her in a plastic storage box on a towel while l am preparing their food, give her a pile of food to eat. And then pop her back in with the others when l put the dish of food in. That way she will get extra rations but still enjoy the communal meal time.

The weight loss is only minor only grams, she will push in when she has grass & food but seems to give up after a while. I'll try what you say fingers crossed. She is the smallest of the adult ones 850 grams. Would hormonal affect her appetite

Yes,ovarian problems can cause weight loss along with ovarian cysts, nipple crusting, hair loss, and behavioral changes (mounting and general grumpiness), plus possible uterine bleeding and uterine cancer. It can be treated by removing the ovaries or sometimes with hormone injections. See what your vet says first as it could well be another problem like latent urinary infection or dental issues.

How old is the piggy? Ovarian cysts are common in older sows and there are various ways of treating them. It may be that there is nothing wrong and that she is just a small piggy with long nipples, but it's worth getting it checked out, just in case there is a problem.

She's only about 13 months old.
