A few of my piggies have a bad dry skin problem, no redness, swelling or bald patches, just itching and 'dandruff'.

They're ivermectin treated and are clear of lice, so if it was to be anything it could be fungal, which I've read nizoral shampoo is very good for. I'd like to try this shampoo on my piggies to see if the symptoms will improve, as the other things I've tried have not worked.

I'd just like to know what the treatment guidelines are for using this shampoo, should it be diluted, how long should it be left on for, how many shampoos per treatment, and how long to wait until the next treatment...

Thanks.

As far as I know the Nizoral is for dandruff & not for fungal problems. For mites I've always treated them with xeno 450. I would get your piggy checked out by your vet

Nizoral can be used for fungal but it is best to get them checked by a vet first. Imaverol dips are also effective. The active ingredient is Eniconazole and it can be bought from Hyperdrug online.

What Ivermectin were they given? if it was a shop bought one like Beaphar it is likely to be low dose and should only be used as a preventative so it could still be a mite problem that has not cleared.

Have you had your heating on recently?

Any shampoo needs to be patch tested behind the ear for 48 hours first and I usually bath weekly for 4 weeks. No shampoo needs diluting except Imaverol which has instructions on the bottle. That is not a shampoo though and is not rinsed off. I leave on for up to 10 minutes.
