Well the day has come that we are going to wash all 12 of our guinea pigs in hopes of getting rid of the fungal problem 2 of them have and help prevent anyone else from developing symptoms. I have a few last minute questions though

1. while washing them should we wear gloves?

2. Will this hurt their eyes if it gets in their eyes by accident? Because both of the fungal problems are around the eye.

3. What about the towels and stuff we dry them with? Should we bleach them and wash them after?

4. How likely is it that stuff we contact while touching them is going to retain germs?

right see if i can answer all

1 i never wear gloves while washing the piggies with Nizoral
2 yes it will hurt their eyes
3 i just wash the towels as normal
4 have no idea on germs :)p

But its for ring worm, if I am touching them won't I get ringworm?

Must admit i never wear gloves when i sort mine out either. The rest of your questions are all basic hygine anyway, wash anything in contact and wash your hands before and after each pig and more so after your done with them all. I always wash towels when in contact even with a healthy pig.

Their eyes may water but they will clean their own eyes with a milky thing they produce, but avoid if possible

Leave the shampoo on for 5 minutes before rinsing.

If you are checking them for ringworm, should you not always wear gloves when handling pigs?
Until you have handled them you do not know whether or not they have ringworm......!
