Why do you want to use nizoral? There may be other more suitable alternatives for this young age.....

I picked the girls up on Thursday, took them to the vets on Friday as one (Poppy) had areas of hair loss. The vet whisked her off to use a UV light on her and came back to report that nothing glowed so it wasn't fungal, gave them both ivermectin drops in case of mites but said it could be lack of vitamin c so gave me some satchets to put in their water bottle.

After going home and googling a bit I read that the UV light test is fine for dogs and cats but the type of fungal piggies can have doesn't glow so it is a useless test. Also the symptoms for vitamin c deficiency do not match at all, so I'm rather annoyed with that vet. I rang the vets on Monday and explained this and Poppy is booked in to see our regular vet tomorrow afternoon - the soonest he could see her.

I have nizoral in the cupboard so thought in the meantime I could bathe her just for her own comfort. Although she isn't overly scratching. But was a bit worried as she is still a baby.

As she is being seen tomorrow I won't bath her now I'll wait to see what the vet says. I'll be telling him about his ill-informed colleague!

Karina - they're actually not bad at being picked up, but they do like to zoom around :))
