My friend, Babulal, is making some sounds, particularly low wheeks and purrs while he is pooping... I also saw some white substance while he is urinating and I am not sure if it is normal or not... I have seen some other posts too regarding it and from now onwards I am giving him RO, UV water (water purifier water).
My main concern is the sounds he is making, he is doing so for the first time... I am very much worried...

I also took him to the vet yesterday... They did an x-ray and told me to give 2 medicines: Cystone and Meloxicam.
Yesterday he was feeling bit better and was at bit ease but today I feel as if he is in pain again... Also his poop is smelly today...

Vet suggested me to give him food like cucumber, capsicum and spinach...

I have given him 1 small piece of carrot, 1 piece of capsicum (which he didn't eat), 2 inch cucumber (of which he ate about 1), spinach leaves (small) {which he ate all(20)}...

Breads (ROTI), an indian form of cooked food...
Please consider these situations and suggest me some instructions

PLEASE HELP...
Thank You

Too much spinach is bad. Can cause bladder stones. Sounds like thats what could be the problem..high calcium

I agree. Please don't feed too much spinach. Did the x-ray show anything?
I don't know... when the doctor saw the x ray he didn't said much but gave those 2 medicines...

Also could you please tell me if he would be alright ?...
I am scared

Hi and welcome!

Has your vet checked the urine for signs of urinary tract infection (blood, raised protein levels)?
Has he discussed his findings on the x-ray with you re. presence of sludge and stones?

Cystone is urinary tract supplement to reduce the occurance of stones from what I can google. Not sure how effective it is.
Meloxicam/metacam is an analgesic that works both as a painkiller and a mild anti-inflammatory.

Please stay off any high calcium veg like spinach and any high sugar veg like carrots or sweet corn; they are the equivalent of a burger for guinea pigs. NO bread, please - any grain is not good for piggies - too high in fat and protein, nor should you ever feed any processed foods.
We have got dietary tips for guinea pigs with bladder and urinary tract problems in our general diet guide, which discusses all food groups in details. Capsicums are called peppers or sweet pepper in other countries, like the UK (where we are based).

You can help us a lot to tailor any advice straight away to what is relevant and available where you are if you please added country (I assume India?) to your account details by clicking on your username on the top bar. That saves you and us time if it appears with every post you make. Thank you!

Thanks a lot..
No his urine was not tested... But I didn't see any visible traits of blood... He didn't discuss much about the x-ray... He saw it and gave these 2 medicines...

Also yes I am from India...

Could u also please suggest me what all I can feed him... Please...

Cucumber, pepper (capsicum), coriander, lettuce (not iceberg) green beans are all very low calcium veggies.

I also suggest that you filter his drinking water with a Brita filter jug
Kent

Kent Mineral RO + UV/UF with TDS Controller Water Purifier... It's the current water source for him

Also in my city we can't find lettuce anywhere except pizza hut or McDonald's and some other restaurants...

It's good that you're using a purifier. Don't worry about the lettuce if you can't find it. It isn't essential

Also i forgot to mention a serious thing... His poop became smell today in the afternoon but now, at night, it's fine but it is not as usual... Also the white deposit in his urine is seen no more...

Plus can i feed him his guinea food as i think due to cucumber he may catch diarrhea?

His poop is bit flat than usual*

He shouldn't get diarrhoea. Just don't give him too much cucumber.

Keep an eye on his poo
Yeah... I am giving him less food than I usually give him so as to avoid as much pressure on him body... And I think this time is better as his poo doesn't smell but the concern is that he is pooping less

He could be pooping less if he's eating less
No actually if I explain with an example it would be better...
Earlier
If he was eating 20 units of food
He was pooping 30 units

Now
If he is eating 10 units of food
He is pooping 8 units

This what the trouble is...
Also a question arose in my mind... I have seen holes in the clothes in which he sleep...
Could it be possible that the cloth that he ate could have become troublesome ?

Poop output shows what has gone in 24 hours before so poops are a day behind. Smell can be affected by foods and if you have fed bread I'm assuming that could have an impact on consistency and smell.

Please feed unlimited hay, a small portion of pellets daily and his usual portion of veg (but low calcium veg as mentioned above). If he does not improve it may be wise asking for a guinea pig safe antibiotic to clear any potential infection

I am not objecting you but I have read it somewhere that hay has lot of calcium...

Also could you please tell me the name of such antibiotic so that I may suggest it to the vet... And give him if required....

Regardless of the calcium content guinea pigs need hay. It forms 80% of their diet and with insufficient hay you will have other health problems such as overgrown teeth. In a country like India where it is rare to find a vet that will see a piggy let alone know how to treat it, you are really putting your piggy on a short life span without hay.

Baytril is the most common antibiotic used and is also called enrofloxacin.

Could you clarify what you mean by your piggy sleeping in clothes? Guinea pigs shouldn't be clothed at all

My guinea pig is 10 months old...
He sleeps in clothes because of the temperature here... It's winter season here and at night temperature even drops to 4°C so as to avoid catching him cold we put him in clothes he also feels relaxed, safe, and comfortable in clothes... When initially we bought a proper thing where he could sleep he deserted it and preferred clothes... So since then he is sleeping in clothes...

Also it's quite unfortunate that in my city there are over 100 vets but no one treats guinea pigs except the IVRI...
It's because they are rarely domesticated by anyone here...

OMG he literally just pooped a lot as he used to poop.... 😃😃😃... And moreover the shape is in good condition too... Except it is moist and I think it is because of cucumber...
He squeaked when he almost finished pooping... Could this mean that he is in better condition now.... ? PLEASE TELL

Yes it is winter here too. I provide a lot of hay for my piggies to burrow into. It is very insulating and would be much better for your piggy than clothes

I actually read it on a site that they should be kept in fleece bedding so I chose clothes instead...

Ok I am very confused now. Are you clothing your guinea pig or just have fleece bedding? Either way please do feed plenty of hay to your piggy

OK, if i understand correctly your guinea pig has a sleeping area that is filled with pieces of fleece?
You are not actually dressing him in pieces of clothing (like jumpers) - he just sleeps with pieces of fabric (cloths and clothes are such easy words to get mixed up).

A fleecy bed area if good, but if he is chewing the fabric this could cause problems, so you may want to find an alternative until you are sure he is not eating any.
A cardboard box lined with newspaper and stuffed with hay is good.

It is normal for his poop to change if you have only just introduced fresh foods like cucumber, so maybe reduce that and start feeding more in small amounts.
Hay is really the main food for guinea pigs and without it they will poop less and may have otehr problems.
Please do not reduce his food - he needs to be eating as much as possible to help his body be strong enough to heal.

It sounds like he is improving, and you are doing a good job trying to follow all of the advice.
He is a very lucky piggy to have you caring for him.

Okay... Can I give him scutch grass ?
And really very very very thank you for your help...

I'm not sure what scutch grass is. Grass can be fed but again you need to introduce slowly so still feed hay alongside it to make sure he gets all the fibre he needs

Actually he is small and eats up everything he gets... Even if i would make a bedding out of hay, newspaper, or cardboard... He's gonna eat them all...
Particularly when he is inhi cloth and makes sound i.e. eating cloth i just call out his name and he don't do it again for around an hour...

Also please bless me and my friend for his speedy recovery... Plus due to meds i think he started hating me... 😂😂😂 I have to force him to drink syrup and he is just like lemme go...

I shall also take care of his food and ensure he gets enough...

Also i don't think he is lucky... Neither i was taking his good care... Because if i had been taking good care of him and would have been more aware about his food composition this all would have been avoided and he would have remained the same active piggy....

BTW... THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP AND CONCERN...
