Any recommendations for the best non leaky waterbottle?
I have the ferplast sippy but it is leaking half a bottle a day and making the fleece soaking (I have an extra pad under it but it goes through that there is so much)

I have a standard plastic one like you get everywhere which doesnt seem to leak but it doesn't seem to poke through the bars enough for them to get to it.

Are there any better ones out there?

Hi,

I currently use this one....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIXIE-GLASS-SMALL-ANIMAL-RABBIT-HAMSTER-HUTCH-CAGE-WATER-BOTTLE-125-250-500-ML-/141259247594?_trksid=p2349526.m2548.l4275

It's glass, it does drip slightly at first but stops eventually keeping the water contained.

I will be honest however I did buy 4 of these bottles, only recently I came to use all four, one of the four was faulty and did leak quite a bit.

But saying that I got a replacement of the same Trixie brand and this one was fine, no leakage just the odd drip to begin with, but worked great.

Despite that I highly recommend this bottle.

I think the Living world eco plus is used by many people on this forum, I think this might be a possibilty however I heard the reviews aren't so good, but this might be down to how they are being used.

I hope that is of help to you :)

Oh by the way I put the trixie bottle on the inside of the cage, as I'd have a problem with getting it to poke through enough also :)

I use a living world bottle with a wooden stand inside the cage. They also have a water bowl. Never had any problem with leaking.

Ware critter carafe work quite well here. Also had the “honey&hopper” without much issue. Both are glass.

Tips to stop leakage:
Glass
You can replace the spout with one from a plastic bottle of the same size for better sealant.

Plastic:
Fill to top and give it a little squeeze once you turn it nozzle down to encourage the vacuum.

Both:
Fill with slightly warm water (warmer than room temperature) as this will help increase the vacuum once the water has cooled down. It will also help stop the suddenly drippy bottle if the room temperature changes.

I use the living world glass ones and on the whole they are pretty good with no leaks.

I found that with my 'leaky' water bottle it wasn't actually leaking, it was more the biting rather than licking action my piggies used to drink meant over half of the water coming out each time didn't go into their faces.

I considered getting a nipple bottle for them, since the way they use them compared to those with ball spouts works better with that design. However they're more expensive and less readily available than the common ball spout ones.

So for now they actually just have a water bowl. Heavy ceramic (officially a cat water bowl) so it doesn't get tipped over. Sometimes hay and stuff does fall in, but cleaning is less involved than cleaning a bottle, so it works for me.
