Goodbye my special Noodle, my first piggie as an adult along with his brother Tofu. I always used to say that Tofu, with his ongoing eye issues, would be sick but keep going, whereas Noodle would be perfectly healthy until he wasn’t. And I was right, just so much earlier than I expected
Noodle was three and a half when a UTI took a nasty turn and he went into multiple organ failure yesterday morning. I’m glad I was able to get him to the vet to help him over the rainbow bridge in the end with Tofu at his side
Noodle was the most characterful piggie I have ever met. So full of mischief, a little Houdini who would find any way to be somewhere he shouldn’t, whether it be jumping on top of a carrot cottage or sneaking into the veg bowl when he was supposed to be on the weighing scales. He moved house with me three times and each new cage soon gained his stamp of approval (after he’d shouldered the furniture around to his liking!)
And then when Tofu lost some sight in his right eye and stared to have his ongoing issues, the bond between the two of them deepened into something beautiful. Watching him lead Tofu around a freshly arranged cage, showing him all the best spots, melted my heart. They both taught me so much about the joys of piggie ownership and well and truly convinced me of the wonderful mellow personality of boars
Noodle would still popcorn after every cage clean, he loved a good rumblestrut, he would do anything for coriander and his fondness for death naps right in the middle of the cage became my favourite thing. He was the most confident boy, he hand fed from day three of me bringing him home, and his courage helped bring Tofu out of his shell. The two of them were always inseparable
I hope you’re popcorning over the rainbow bridge little buddy. We miss you. I won’t let Tofu be on his own for long so don’t worry, he’ll be just fine
