I love to let Norm (my guinea pig) out of his pen so he can run around and get exercise and some of his energy out but as he's gotten more comfortable with his surroundings he is harder to get back into his cage. He runs when I try to pick him up, I've been trying to lure him into his pigaloo with some of his favorite foods but he's being a puke and keeps running a way (he's a smart one lol). I don't want to have to corner him and chase him and make his scared and not trust us. Any suggestions?!

I just chuck food in the cage and wait for the girls to go back of their own accord.
It always works.

I once had a fleece bag (it was the fleece cover taken off an old radiator cat bed), which I would place on the floor and hold open. My two boys (sadly now deceased) used to run into the bag. Fingers crossed something like that will work for you. X

Do you have a separate pen from the cage? Try a walk-in cardboard box with fesh soft hay and a lid that for him to have a nap in when he is tired; then just lift it out. Otherwise, start feeding dinner after he is back in the cage, so your call to come home is connected with something he anticipates. Piggy tummies always win out! ;)

It is perfectly normal that you have a phase of rebellion once he has understood the ritual.

I have a little 2x2 C&C which I have out at floor time. When it's time for them to go back to the big cage I put food in it, and they run in. I shut the door and they're really easy to catch because it's such a small area.
