Guineapigs6
New Born Pup
Hi there,
I've had guinea pigs for over a decade, and currently have six much-loved males. However, I've recently adopted a younger pig that's causing me a little concern.
Coco's a rescued Himalayan Rex - lively, noisy, outgoing, and well-bonded with his cage-mate. However, at 6 months old, he weighs just 400 grams (14 ounces) and has stopped growing ... though he has good muscle tone and doesn't appear 'thin'. Over the past fortnight I've watched him closely for any sign of illness, but he seems a perfectly healthy and happy little pig.
Is it common for young guinea pigs to have 'growth spurts', and periods where they do not grow at all? Or do they grow at a fairly constant rate?
Many thanks for any ideas / advice!
