I have two guinea pigs and their pee is so strong it gives me a headache. Is this normal?

It shouldn’t be so strong smelling that it makes you feel ill. I would advise you have them checked by a vet first and foremost.
After ruling out medical issues, have a look at the type of bedding you are using - it is absorbing properly; if it’s fleece is it wicking properly; are you changing it often enough etc

Hi!

Please see a vet first to close out any medical issues (cystitis etc.).

When that has been ruled out, then please examine their bedding and care:
- What housing are they in (hutch/cage) and what bedding are they on?
- How often do you change it?
- What cleaner/disinfectant are you using and how often are you using it?

Please be aware that in warm weather, the ammonia in the urine will become whiffier rather more quickly so you need to change any peeing areas ideally more quickly. Good airing of any indoors rooms is also recommended.
