Hi, I've never had guinea pigs before but I know when they're happy they usually end up 'popcorning'. My boy Stitch always popcorns a little bit when he hears me come in with a bag of veggies ready to be cut up and nibbled on. However, I took him out for floor time today and after exploring for a bit he started to run around like crazy and popcorn like I've never seen before! It was almost scary to watch! Anytime I came over to pet him he was fine and even scurried away if I moved too fast. How much popcorning do they do? I thought it was just one or two little jumps in the air and twitches. He was being loud and jumping and twitching like crazy! He would stop to eat some hay then run around and do it again? Am I just being a worry wart? haha Or have I just never really seen him 'truly' popcorning? Please help, I'm still new to this and though I researched like crazy it can only take you so far! :)

There's different types of popcorns. There's the usual happy popcorns and then there's the super happy excited, can barely control themselves popcorning. You just witnessed the latter. It's my favourite type of popcorning as its so funny. Sometimes they even look confused when they do it.

So no worries, he's just really enjoying himself! :D

Oh thank you! He's never done it before so it kinda freaked me out! I've only had him for a week and a half so I'm glad I'm doing enough to make him so happy. :)

Aw thats lovely. He must feel very comfortable around you then! ^_^

Hahaha when roger was little he'd get going so much that he'd crash head first into something, shake it off, and then do it again. I sometimes wonder if he's had permanent damage, since he's a few fries short of a happy meal! :D

Also enjoy it while they are young; it seems like the bigger/older they get the less enthusiastic the popcorning gets. Don't get me wrong, they still do it, but it's usually less dramatic!

Ahhhh - you have a really happy piggy. Just watch and enjoy. My 2 regularly bump their heads by popcorning under ramps etc. When they do happy popcorning they still look in control but the super-excited kind just takes them over - it is really funny to watch!
